We've all been there, made a list of New Year's resolutions only to quit a few weeks later. Maybe even months (you overachievers you).
The best New Year's Resolutions
- Lose weight or set a goal weight to get more healthy.
- Paying off debt.
- Stop drinking pop/soda.
- Set career goals.
- Read more books.
- Travel or go on a road trip.
1.Losing weight, or getting to a goal weight that is healthy.
It's probably on everyone's list, especially after the holidays where food is so abundant. As I said earlier though, be specific, and set attainable goals.
If you give yourself a timeline for accomplishing it, make sure it's within reason.
Maybe you just want to go down a dress size, or you want to bulk up and gain more muscle mass. Either way, be specific.
2.Paying off Debt
With online shopping so popular, and also the holiday shopping, chances are you have some debt starting to accrue.
Making this a priority is smart because keeping your debt paid off helps with your credit score, and also helps you be more responsible with money.
3.Stop drinking pop
Soda is THE beverage choice for many. Drinking one every once in awhile might not be bad, but drinking too much can certainly have negative effects of weight gain, blood sugar fluctuations, and even make you sleepy.
Diet soda, while it doesn't have the liquid calories of regular, is still just as bad.
Opt instead for water, unsweetened tea, or my favorite Hint Water. It's water that has been fruit infused, no calories, and no artificial sweeteners.
4.Set some career goals
Again this will all depend on the person, but be specific. Are you wanting to get a promotion? Start making more money every year? Or decide to look for a different job? Write it down!
I don't know about you, but my dream is to be Forbe's 30 under 30. Someday!!
5.Read more books
I get it, Netflix and Amazon Prime are game changers for what we do with our spare time. Make a list of some books you keep telling yourself you want to read, and then actually read them!
6.Travel or go on a road trip
Another fun new year's resolution that you won't regret is to travel more. Take a road trip with your besties or plan a fun family getaway.
Why do we give up on our resolutions?
Why? Well, a lot of it has to do with sticking with it long enough for it to become a habit. Other reasons why resolutions fail is that you aren't making the right list.
What I have found is that if you are really descriptive with each goal, you will have a better chance at succeeding. This is because it helps you visualize what needs to be done, and gives you a better idea than just lose weight.
Instead think up a certain amount you want to lose, and give yourself a plan of how you will go about making this happen.
