    Why it's so important?

There are so many benefits for exercising, and doing so as a family helps reinforce your kids to have healthy and active lifestyles when they get older.

Not only can it help burn off the extra energy your children have, it can certainly help boost your mood too!

So, how can you exercise together?

Life with little ones can make exercising hard, but it doesn't have to with these easy and surefire ways to get everybody up and active.

    1. Go For a Walk

This is one of the easiest and best ways to get everybody active and exercise.

After dinner, we like to take a liesurely stroll around our backyard. The idea is to get ouside and move!

It almost doesn't even feel like exercise.

    2. Dance Party

Dance parties are my favorite. I especially like doing these right before nap time to make little ones go to bed easier.

Turn on your favorite music and dance!

Bonus points if you pick up your kid and dance with them while holding them...a true arm workout.

    3. Riding bicycles

This is another great activity that the whole family can enjoy. It's also a great cardio and leg workout!

If you still have little babies, don't let that stop you. They make some really cool pull-behind trailers for little ones who aren't yet old enough to use a bicycle.

    4. Hiking

There are lots of nature trails that would also make a great place to hike or go for a walk. Do a quick search for nature trails in your area and plan a day to go for a family hike.

Just make sure to bring some water and snacks in case you get hungry or thirsty!

    5. Go to the park

Another great way to exercise as a family, that almost doesn't feel like exercising is to go to the park.

There are lots of activities to do, so set your phone down and get invovled!

    6. Go to the zoo

This is another one of our go-to places for getting exercise and still having fun.

There is a lot of walking involved with a trip to the zoo, but you really don't notice because you are focused on all the cool animals!

    7. Gardening

Okay, stick with me! Gardening is another great exercise activity that you can do as a family. Bending down and pulling weeds, planting flowers, or even mowing the lawn will all work up a sweat.

    8. Swimming

If your kids know how, swimming is another great option for exercising. Even during the colder months, there are indoor options like the YMCA to take advantage of.

    9. Kicking balls back and forth

You can play soccer or even just kick balls back and forth. This helps keep you moving and burns calories without you really thinking about it!

    Family Exercise FAQ

How exercising together makes your family stronger?

The best way to bond is with quality time and exercising is a great way to do this and get healthier. It also helps teach your kids to take care of themselves.

    Why is family wellness important?

Our kids learn from example and if they see us actively trying to be more healthy they will learn to do the same. When you incorporate it as a family activity, then you are just re-enforcing these positive things.

It doens't matter what you do, just that you get up and get moving! This helps teach our youngsters to have a more active lifestyle which will help them in the long run. It will also help you bond as a family.
